Create a tagxedo document which uses at least 3 synonyms of word to describe.
Materials:
Access to internet
Tagxedo Tutorial (attached below)
Procedure:
1. Students will first identify at least one word that in new/unfamiliar/confusing/interesting/etc (refer to slide presentation for clarification) in their assigned reading.
2. They will then use an online dictionary to confirm and/or check the definition. http://www.learnersdictionary.com/definition/kid
3. They can then build on this definition to create synonyms on their own and find more online using an online thesaurus. http://www.kidthesaurus.com/
4. They will then synthesize this knowledge to create a tagxedo that uses ONLY SYNONYMS and examples to convey the meaning of their word. With the program tagxedo, full sentences and multi word definitions cannot be used so they must be concise in their thinking! www.tagxedo.com
